2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon at Roberts Chrysler Dodge

The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon already has quite a few world-shattering headlines to its name, such as, it's the first factory production car to attain front wheel lift at launch (a wheelie!), have the highest G-force (1.8 g), the fastest acceleration (2.3 seconds), have a liquid-to-air intercooler chiller system, highest horsepower (840-hp), and fastest quarter mile (9.65 seconds at 140mph)! As the only street-legal vehicle to ever be designed with a high-octane-ready engine, you will be at home whether on the streets of your neighborhood, the highway or on an actual track! Usually, race-track vehicles don't perform well or aren't allowed on regular roads, and vice-versa, however the 2018 Demon is ready for both! It arrives with only a driver's seat, but you can get the other seats for a dollar (they add 50-lbs each), and also several other add-ons of a similar nature. Specifically, those items are the Demon Crate with its special parts and tools, a trunk carpet kit, and a leather option on the rear seats. This certainly is a one-of-a-kind of vehicle-- have some fun and check it out with us!

What powers the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and what else adds to its strength?

The workhorse underneath is a 6.2-liter HEMI Demon V8 engine with an unholy 840 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and infernal 770 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm to its credit. The engine was created (62% new content from the Hellcat's V8) to utilize either the 91-octane that you find at a regular gas station or the 100+ high-octane fuel generally found on race track fueling stations. The Demon senses which fuel you are using and automatically chooses between its dual-stage fuel pumps-- or can run on a combo of both without losing engine performance! The Demon Crate Direct Connection Performance Parts Powertrain system contains parts that help you easily actuate your Demon engine's performance, no matter what fuel is going into it, so be sure to pay the extra dollar or two to get those! The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon summons four custom driving modes to dominate wherever it finds itself: Drive, Eco, Drag, and Valet Mode all manifest and do their corresponding jobs very well in the 2018 Dodge Demon. An all-electric powertrain also means not only performance race tuning response, but also it adapts to be easier to steer in low-velocity situations, such as parking lots or drive-thru lanes. The Demon uses a TorqueFlite 8HP90 eight-speed automatic transmission with a TransBrake feature, a 3.09 rear axle ratio for incredible off-the-line acceleration, and a Torque Reserve feature as well. These features combine to manufacture 317 lb.-ft. of incremental torque! Another eyebrow-raising point is that on launch, the Demon transfers-- from front to rear wheels-- more than 1 ton of weight! Also, the Demon has a flat-bottom SRT Performance steering wheel. Be sure to attach from the Demon Crate the performance powertrain control module with high-octane engine calibration, it will make a world of difference in the engine capability!

What are some other features that are popular in a 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon?

Inside, an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen is standard. The available Harman Kardon sound system has 18-speakers, as opposed to the 2 speakers that come standard to keep weight down. Available options also include heated leather seats, a power sunroof, and a heated steering wheel. There is also an advanced Performance Pages System that uses graphic displays to show the driver essential information, like torque, gear shifts, reaction times, horsepower output, g-force, transmission info, air-intake & fluid temps, air-fuel ratios and battery voltage. Via the Performance Pages, drivers can track in real-time when their Demon is ready to go again post-race by seeing the supercharger coolant temperature, and with the SRT Power Chiller and After-Run Cooler partnership, intake air temperature gets lowered by up to 45˚F more than in predecessors. Or put another way, the cooling system rejects the heat of 250 electric toasters simultaneously! So basically after blistering its way down the track, the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will be unnaturally ready to go, in all probability, much quicker than its rivals! Also noticeable on the Demon will be 'Demon' head logo fender badges, a serialized dash plaque, and 'Dark Brushed II' interior pieces. There are a few packages to look into in addition, such as the Laguna Leather Package and the Satin Black hood/roof & decklid package.

Any other points of interest and/or of safety?

The Valet Mode, one of the special drive modes provided for in the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, allows you to set limits on horsepower, rpm and performance elements, helping keep things sane and letting you relax when out and about. The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is also covered by FCA's generous factory warranty, with 3 years or 36,000 miles of limited vehicle warranty and a 5 year, 60,000-mile limited powertrain warranty. Also of note, the 315/40R18 Nitto NT05R street-legal drag radial tires made for the Demon, that uses a new compound & a particular tire sidewall construction. These tires are made to withstand and channel the power of the Demon's engine, and contain 2x the grip of the standard Challenger's tires, as well as 15% more of a tire contact patch, a rear axle & converter torque multiplication of 18% more for both! These tires allow a sidewall "wrinkle" on a strong enough launch to improve time, and are found on 18x11-inch lightweight aluminum wheels. Interestingly, Dodge has not only procured Hagerty as its official insurance provider specifically for the Demon, but it has also invoked dealer incentives to keep customer prices close to the MSRP, despite the Demon's limited-run status and popularity.

Final Thoughts on the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon

There is a noticeable wide-body exterior styling, with concealed wheel well attachments, and an equally unnoticeable SRT Demon-tuned three-mode ADSsuspension, all of which ensures the best ride for your money. The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon has a 4-wheel Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) & Traction Control, Brake Knockback Mitigation, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Brake Assist, and Hill-start Assist as well. Drivers can buy the four-point Demon harness that mounts in the back seating area without cutting or drilling and makes sure they stay in their seat even better than the seat belt during outrageous driving maneuvers. A full-day session to the Bob Bondurant School of High-Performance Driving in Chandler, Arizona is included with purchase. That should be enough to whet anyone's appetite, but also sooth your safety questions. Suffice to say the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is hitting the streets hard (and the track) and we hope to see you behind the wheel soon!
