With a twin-screw supercharger, the TRX rips out over 700 horsepower for a heart-pounding 4.5-second 0-60 time. How Powerful is the Ram TRX?

As the fastest, most powerful production truck, you can imagine the Ram TRX has a pretty powerful engine, and you are correct! The TRX employs a 6.2L HEMI V8 with a twin-screw supercharger delivering 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, offering a top speed of 118 MPH. A supercharger is a belt-driven forced air induction device, mechanically increasing airflow and compressing the air entering the chamber. With the additional air, more fuel can be added to the cylinder as well, creating more power. The TRX's supercharger reaches a maximum speed of 14,600 revolutions per minute and offers 11 pounds of boost. In addition to the supercharger, the TRX employs a massive airbox under the hood with multiple air intakes, consuming up to 33 liters of air each minute. To tailor your drive to the current driving conditions, you can select from the Snow, Custom, Rock, Sand/Mud, Baja, and Sport drive modes.

What makes the 2022 TRX so capable?

Of course, you can rely on the TRX to hold its own in a quarter-mile race. But as we mentioned above, it is designed to take you places no other trucks can. In addition to standard four-wheel drive, the TRX employs lots of features to enhance its performance off the road. A large part of the TRX's capability comes from the Bilstein BlackHawk e2 shock absorbers. Bilstein custom-built these shocks for the TRX, giving it a towering 11.8 inches of ground clearance, making it easy to clear trail obstacles. Additionally, each shock has its own independent remote compressed nitrogen gas reservoir, freeing up space for maximum suspension travel. Suspension travel determines how easy it is to keep all four wheels on the ground while crawling over rugged terrain. The BlackHawk e2 shocks provide the TRX with 13 inches of front suspension travel and 14 inches in the rear, keeping all four wheels grounded and moving forward. The shocks also used Active Terrain Dynamics, continuously adapting to changes in the terrain by monitoring the vehicle's sensors and reacting to changes in throttle position, speed, and steering angle. Lastly, to prevent bottoming out, the shocks have a secondary piston that will engage as the shocks reach full compression.

2022 Ram TRX Design Features

The exterior design of the TRX can be defined as menacing, muscular, and downright scary! The front fascia features a wide grille with opening RAM lettering for additional airflow. On either side of the grille, you'll find slim LED headlights for a fearsome stare. The hood features a functional hood scoop with three amber LED lights. The TRX adds eight inches to the overall width of the standard Ram 1500 to make room for more airflow locations, a wider track, and a wide, bulldog-like stance. Sitting on 18-inch alloy wheels, the 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires add to the rugged appearance. Ram didn't want onlookers to just see the TRX's aggression, they wanted people to hear it too. That's why they gave it a low growl with performance-tuned exhaust and resonance-free pipes. Inside the TRX you'll be treated to an 8-way power driver's seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 12-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, a leather-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel, a center console shifter, paddle shifters, launch control, and much more.
