If you find yourself in need of a vehicle that can tackle these city streets with ease, you're sure to find one here at Robert's Chrysler Dodge RAM Fiat!

Know you'll be dealing with a lot

The first thing you should know is that you'll be dealing with all sorts of obstacles when you drive in the city. Drivers in the city will encounter traffic jams, bumper-to-bumper traffic, and many pedestrians and cyclists daily. Those who are unfamiliar with city driving need to understand that there are other motorists that surround your vehicle that might not be taking things as cautious as you are and may try to make some difficult maneuvers to get around these obstacles. Remember that you can't control what they do; you can only control what you do. Remain cautious and calm when driving in the city!

Try to avoid rush hour

If possible, try to avoid driving in the city during rush hour. Rush hour normally is at its peak during the hours of 7 am, and 9 am and 4 pm, and 6 pm. Do your best to stay off the city streets during these times unless you absolutely need to travel on them. Rush hour traffic will not only increase the time it takes to reach your destination, but you will also increase your chances of getting into an accident. This can lead to more frustration and the ire of other drivers who encounter these conditions daily.

Avoid cyclists

Depending on what city you're in, you might encounter a large number of cyclists. Bicycles are a good way for residents of certain cities to get around without using a car to navigate busy streets. While cyclists are supposed to obey the same laws as drivers, there are a few who don't. While your driving, make sure that you keep an eye out for cyclists and always keep your distance from them. You should also be aware that most cities have specific lanes made for bicycles located to the far right of the street. Never steer your vehicle into these lanes.

Be aware of pedestrians

While you're stopped at a traffic light, be aware that pedestrians have been given the walk signal and will be heading across the street while the light is turning red. Remember that some pedestrians could be slower than the walk signal and might attempt to cross the street even though the don't walk signal is flashing. Be sure to always look both ways for pedestrians before the light has turned green. Never attempt to swerve to avoid a person walking across the street, even if they are jaywalking.

Look out for taxis

Keep in mind that taxis are common in big cities and can be large obstacles to avoid. Taxis will often make efforts to respond to someone trying to hail a cab and often make sudden moves to the edges of the roadway. Be sure to keep a safe distance from taxis and be aware of passengers entering and exiting the cab when parked on the side of the road.
