Spring Maintenance for your Ram Truck

Spring Maintenance for your Ram Truck

Presented by Roberts Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram

Is there anything more exciting than springtime in Meriden, CT? If you ask us, not much. The weather is finally starting to get more again, trees are going leaves again, and flowers are blossoming. While nature is coming out of a long hibernation it is time for you too as well. Now is the best time to start hiking again at West Peak, Hubbard Park, Chauncey Peak, Castle Craig, and beyond! To be able to come out of hibernation you need to make sure your Ram truck is running in tip-top shape and is ready to handle traversing out to the mountains. Not sure what exactly your Ram truck needs for spring maintenance? No worries! Down below we outlined all the things you should do to get your Ram ready for spring!

Your Multi Point Spring Car Maintenance Checklist

Change your oil and oil filters.

First thing first, schedule an oil change, or get the proper oil and do it yourself if that is the way you roll. Regularly scheduled oil changes keep your Ram running in tip-top shape and helps maintain a healthy engine. Oil lubricates and cools your engine and is naturally going to pick up some debris and break down over time, which is why it is important to regularly swap it out for clean motor oil.

Have your truck's battery tested and replaced, if needed.

After a long winter of cold temperatures, your truck's battery may be on its last leg. You don't want to get yourself stranded out in the mountains with a dead truck battery, so it's always a good idea to have it tested that way you know if it needs to be replaced or get an idea of when it will need to be replaced.

Check tire pressure and tread.

Cold temperatures mean your tires probably became deflated at some point and with warm temperatures coming back your tire pressure will probably fluctuate again. Over or under-inflated tires can cause your tread to wear unevenly which means you will need new tires a lot faster than if they were properly inflated and wearing normally.

Replace your wiper blades and top off your wiper fluid.

After and long and icy winter your wiper blades are probably at the end of their life, and your wiper fluid is most likely pretty low from constantly washing all that salt off your windshield. Now that we're entering spring and spring showers it's time to swap out those tired wiper blades for a new set.

Wash your truck!

Speaking of salt, go wash your truck! Winter is brutal and the salt they cover the roads with is just as brutal for your Ram, so go wash off that corrosive salt! Oh, and make sure you opt for the wash with the undercarriage wash! You want to make sure the underside of your Ram stays rust-free.
